About Dr. Craig A. Wilkes

Dr. Wilkes specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle for all ages, infants through adults.   Dr. Wilkes is Board Certified in both Podiatric Medicine and Podiatric Surgery by the American Board of Multiple Specialties and the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.   Dr. Wilkes is a Podiatric Surgeon who specializes in all phases of lower extremity pain and pathology, which include:  Achilles ruptures, ankle arthroscopy, bunions, hammertoes, tendon tears and ruptures, lateral ankle stabilizations, foot and ankle fractures, and laser treatment for nail fungus and other pathology.  His expertise extends to orthotic treatment, rehabilitation, workers compensation injuries, and care for elderly and diabetic patients.  His philosophy is to attempt conservative care treatment prior to considering surgery.  His goal is to help patients return to the active lifestyle they desire.

Dr. Wilkes attended the University of Washington and California State University, Sacramento to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy.  He attended medical school at the California College of Podiatric Medicine which is affiliated with the University of San Francisco.  In addition, Dr. Wilkes attended one of the leading Surgical Residencies, Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Trauma Center.  Dr. Wilkes has practiced medicine at the “STARR Clinic” (Sports Trauma and Athletic Rehabilitation Clinic in Southern California), where he treated Scholarship, College, and Professional athletes.   Dr. Wilkes treats many of the local sports teams and is highly trained in sports medicine.   Dr. Wilkes maintains the highest levels of accreditation and strives to pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in podiatry.  

Dr. Wilkes has a private practice, works in urgent care, and takes emergency call at Sutter and Mercy Hospitals.  He is on staff at most local Sutter and Mercy Hospitals in the area.  Dr. Wilkes is highly respected by doctors and trusted by patients.  You can be assured Dr. Wilkes will take the time needed to understand your concerns with your medical problems.
